Bár egyesek számára meglepő lehet, de nem csak a trópusokon, hanem az Őrségben, sőt Őriszentpéteren is élnek orchidea fajok. Apró, 1 milliméternél kisebb magjaik nem tartalmaznak szikanyagot, ezért csírázásukhoz, növekedésükhöz talajlakó gombák segítségére szorulnak. Lássuk, mely különleges egyedekről is beszélünk!
Surprising as it may seem, it is not only the tropical areas where species of orchids can live, but also in the Őrség region, and, which is more, specifically at Őriszentpéter. Their tiny seeds, less than 1 mm in size, do not contain cotyledon, therefore they rely on the services of soil-resident fungi for their germination and growth.
A szárazabb, domboldali sovány gyepeket kedvelő, de üde rétek magasabb fekvésű részein is megtalálható orchidea faj az agárkosbor, mely nagy számban él az őriszentpéteri református temető melletti parkolóban. Őrségi népi elnevezése a kakukkvirág, melyet a kakukk első megszólalásával egybeeső virágzásáról kapott. Virágai rendszerint lila színűek, de nem ritka a fehér virágú változat és a rózsaszínű átmenetek megjelenése sem.
Being fond of the drier and lean swards of hillsides, but also occurring in higher parts of fresh meadows, the orchid species called green-winged orchid lives in large numbers around the car park next to the Calvinist cemetery at Őriszentpéter. ln the Őrség region its popular name is cuckoo-flower, referring to its flowering period starting when cuckoos first begin singing. The flowers are normally lilac in colour, but versions in white and pinkish hues are not infrequent, either.
Az őszi füzértekercs a sovány gyepek nyár végén virágzó, apró termetű, fehérvirágú, ritka orchidea faja. Őriszentpéteren egy kisebb állománya a keserűszeri dombok lankáin fordul elő. A néhány milliméteres virágok kellemes mandulaillatot árasztanak. A virágos szár spirálszerűen csavart, ahogy arról a növény tudományos elnevezése is árulkodik.
The Autumn lady’s-tresses is a small, white-flowered and rare species of orchid growing on lean swards and flowering at the end of summer. At Őriszentpéter a smaller stand can be found on the slopes of the hillocks at Keserűszer. The flowers of a few millimetres in size give off a pleasant almond scent. The stem holding the flowers is spirally twisted, as suggested by the plant’s scientifíc name (Spiranthes Spiralis).
Az üde és félszáraz gyepekben egyaránt előfordul a fehér alapon mélyvörös színnel pettyezett sömörös kosbor, melynek jelentős állományai találhatók Őriszentpéter belterületi gyepjeiben, elsősorban Keserűszeren és az általános iskola melletti domboldali réten.
Living in both the fresh and semi-dry swards and grassy areas, the burnt-tip orchid with its deep-red spots on a white base colour can be found in considerable stands on swards in the inner areas of Őriszentpéter, and primarily at Keserűszer on the hillside meadow next to the elementary school.
Ligetes, fényben gazdag lomberdőkben, gyümölcsösökben is fellelhető, teljes egészében zöld színű orchidea a békakonty, mely széles, ovális leveleiről virágtalan állapotban is könnyen felismerhető. Valamennyi eddig említett faj számára fontos, hogy élőhelyüket legalább évente egyszer kaszálják, de a kétszeri kaszálással, és a kaszáláskor a kórók egy részének meghagyásával még jobban kedvezhetünk nekik.
ln grove-like deciduous woods with plenty of light and in orchards we can come across the common twayblade, this totally green orchid that can easily be recognised by its broad oval leaves even in its flowerless state. lt is important tor all the species mentioned so far that their habitats be scythed at least once a year, but scything twice ayear and leaving some of the stems standing would favour them even more.
Láp- és mocsárrétek növénye a széleslevelű ujjaskosbor, melynek 5–10 cm hosszúságú, lila színű virágzata és sötét foltokkal díszített levele igen impozáns megjelenést nyújt. Gyepeken élő fajként a rendszeres kaszálás fontos számára, de élőhelyének kiszáradására is igen érzékeny. Az évi kétszeri vagy a nyár második felében egyszer végzett kaszálás a számára legelőnyösebb.
The broad-leaved marsh orchid belongs to moorlands and marshy meadows. Thelilac flowers that are 5-10 cm long and the leaves adorned with dark patches make a really impressive sight. As it is a species growing on swards, regular reaping is important for it, but it is also quite sensitive to the drying out of its habitat. lt is best to provide two scythings annually, or a single scything in the second half of the summer.
A kétlevelű sarkvirág nevéhez hűen rendszerint két, egymással átellenes, nagyméretű levelet fejleszt. Virágai fehérek, 1–2 cm nagyságúak, hosszú sarkantyúban végződnek. Üde réteken és üde lomboserdők fényben gazdag foltjain, szegélyében, utak mentén májustól-júliusig szórványosan találkozhatunk egyedeivel.
Being true to its name, the lesser butterfly orchid or two leaved butterfly orchid develops two large sized leaves positioned opposite each other. The flowers are white, 1-2 cm long, ending in a longish spur. lt best grows on fresh meadows and well-lit patches in broadleaved forests and can be seensporadically along the sides of roads and paths from May to July.
Szintén üde lomberdei faj a széleslevelű nőszőfű, mely erdőszéleken, erdei utak mentén kerülhet a szemünk elé.
Also the fresh broadleaved forests are the habitat of the broad-leaved helleborine that can be seen at the edges of woods and along forest paths.
